The countdown is on for Geronimo’s arrival to 2 East Holly and we couldn’t be more excited! We wanted to find out and share a bit more with you about the woman behind the collection so last week we asked Jenny Reyes a few questions.

Welcome to the TLO family, Jenny <3.

1. What was your first fashion-related creation?

I’ve always thought it was fascinating to construct tangible things. When I was maybe eight years old I made a tote bag out of fabric scraps that my grandmother had. I even lined the inside with felt and sewed on rainbows and clouds (appliques) on the side of the bag. It was a very elaborate design for an 8 year old. I was obsessed with making things soon after that.

2. What or who inspires you?

I’d like to think everything and everyone inspires me. History and friends are really important to me because it’s the driving force behind everything I do. Obviously music, films, books, dreams and nature all have a huge impact in my life. I’m fascinated by history and it’s effects on our culture. I like to think that I celebrate certain parts of history by making them modern again but staying true to the facts and by honoring them rather than exploiting.

I’ve been so lucky to be part of this amazing community of artists that are constantly inspiring me to create, we are continually feeding each other inspirations.

3. Biggest sartorial blunder?

I’m not going to fess up to any sartorial blunder (I have to keep those skeletons in my closet) but one time, after being helped at a store by the MOST HANDSOME salesperson, I bought a pair of pricey (and hideous) shoes just so I could talk to him some more. So embarrassing. No worries, though… I sent my best friend to return them the next day!

4. What inspired the name “Geronimo”?

Well, believe it or not, my middle name is Geronimo. When I was on tour, I was racking my brain trying to name my clothing line and my really good friend Orenda casually said, “Why don’t you just name it Geronimo? It IS your middle name!” And I was like DUH, you’re a genius! So that’s how it all started.

5. Any advice to those wishing to follow in your footsteps?

I think the best advice I can give is to stay true to your vision. Never sway from what inspires you. I have simple dreams- and the greatest pleasure I have in life is to see someone wearing my clothes because it’s rewarding to see someone appreciate my vision.

Darling sisters Ginger and Sandra (with pup Astor) spent the afternoon bonding, bantering, and playing dress up at our store this on Thursday. It was such a pleasure to have them and so cute: the pink and white skirt which Ginger picked up at TLO even matches with her sister’s own top!
